Forest Hills School District recently partnered with Ignition APG to provide performance coaches at both Anderson High School and Turpin High School. Ignition APG has partnered with professional and collegiate athletic programs in the past, but this is the first time they have partnered with high schools.
“Ignition will provide a comprehensive strength and wellness program for our student athletes that will allow each student to excel in their sport,” explained Eric Fry, Turpin athletic director. “Athlete workouts that focus on the proper form, nutrition and recovery will be customized to the individual athlete. I’m excited to see our student athletes improve in this program!”
Pat Thatcher, Anderson High School’s performance coach, and Brian Ellis, Turpin performance coach, will assess each student athlete’s ability, strengths and weaknesses in order to target the proper training program and specific areas for improvement. Workouts are then created based on results-oriented, proven methodologies to improve an athlete’s speed, strength and overall athleticism.
“We are constantly trying to surround our student athletes with opportunities for growth and achievement of excellence,” said Chris Newton, Anderson athletic director. “Ignition’s quality of character and wealth of knowledge will surrounded our students with the best in the business!
Ellis is a certified performance specialist with the NCAA who has worked as a strength and conditioning coach in a variety of sports. He currently works with the Cincinnati Bengals and has previously worked with the San Diego Chargers.
Thatcher holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Northern Kentucky University and a master’s degree in education from the College of Mount Saint Joseph. Thatcher also holds several nationally recognized certifications including being a registered strength and conditioning coach with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, strength and condition specialist certification, and holding a USA Weightlifting sports performance coach certificate.
“We are honored and humbled about our new partnership with Forest Hills School District,” said Ignition APG. “We look forward to serving these student athletes.”
